New growth

New growth

February 06, 2010 | Seattle

I made my way down to the Arboretum this morning to get a more natural, organic look to today\'s photo. I was surprised by the number of plants in bloom. Would you believe it - the cherry trees are already in blossom? It must be the mild winter that the Pacific Northwest has been enjoying for the past few months.

Anyway, I believe that this is a Pussy Willow or maybe another member of the Salix genus (thank you Wikipedia!). In the background is another plant that was similar, but had very yellow/orange branches. I loved the color and the texture the plant in the background provided to the scene.
