Washington Pass Sunrise

Washington Pass Sunrise

October 26, 2008 | North Cascades National Park

On a dark, chilly morning I headed to Washington Pass just outside of North Cascades National Park to catch the sunrise. I arrived just in time and got to see the sun as it crested the hills and lit up Liberty Bell (right) and Early Winters Spires (left).

In the trees below the peaks are some of the common spruce peppering the hillside. These trees are a pretty amazing sight as their needles turn a rich amber color in the autumn.
