Mountain Goat in Glacier

Mountain Goat in Glacier

July 03, 2007 | Glacier National Park

During our trip to Glacier National Park we saw tons of wildlife. This was just one of many Mountain Goats we saw roaming the cliffs surrounding one of the many peaks in Glacier. The goats are fairly tame and are willing to get close to humans. This one was actually within a hundred yards of the Logan Pass Visitor's Center, which was packed with people.

These Mountain Goats were the symbol of the Great Northern Railway, which made it's trek across the United States through Glacier National Park. One of the owners of the Railway felt that this area was worth attracting people to so he built lodges and advertised the beauty of the land. Later these lodges and surrounding lands were encompassed to become Glacier National Park.
